John Water’s Divine is the filthiest person alive. She uses the codename Babs Johnson and lives in a trailer in the woods with her mother Eddie (Edith Massey), who lives for eggs. They live there with her mad hippie son Crackers ); and her mate Cotton. The film also stars a jealous couple, Connie and Raymond Marble ), who abduct and impregnate female hitchhikers to sell their babies to gay and lesbian couples, using the money to invest in heroin to sell in schools. To help upsurp Divine from her throne they hire Cookie to have sex with Crackers and spy on Divine to in efforts to become “the filthiest people alive”. However, when the competition begins, Connie and Raymond Marble quickly realize why Divine has been anointed queen of maximum filth.
John Water’s break out film is like nothing you have ever seen before, and quite possibly something you’ll never want to see again.
